Loyalty To Ruler Makes For Cultured Politics- Political ObserversBy:

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- "It's up to the Sultan" were Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin's words spoken two days ago when asked by reporters about the position of the Perak state government he had led then as Menteri Besar.
However, he acted differently when decreed by Sultan Azlan Shah yesterday to step down from the post by defying the order, while Pakatan Rakyat (PR), which Mohammad Nizar is part of, even threatened to take legal action against the ruler.
Considering the Malay adage, "biar mati anak jangan mati adat" (let the child die, not the custom), a number of political observers said that PR's action was uncultured politics.
Prof Datuk Dr Ibrahim Ahmad Bajunid said a mature leader would not return to an uncivilised world in the face of a crisis.
Instead, he said, a wise, mature leader would uphold the principles of the Rukun Negara and Constitution by being decorous in resolving a crisis.
"What is meant by refined culture in politics is that it includes showing loyalty to the ruler and love for the country," said the former dean of the Humanities and Social Science Faculty of Universiti Tun Abdul Razak.
Regarding the situation in Perak as a "small crisis" and part of the process of achieving political maturity in the country, Ibrahim said that ultimately, only urbane political leaders would be respected by the people.
"If the leader and his team are wise enough, then the people will be likewise, and I believe that all parties involved will learn something from this political crisis and become more mature," he said.
Another political observer, Prof Datuk Dr Zainal Kling, opined that lawmakers who had no respect for the law were not fit to sit in the state legislative assembly to formulate and pass laws.
"The Sultan is the paramount head of the state, and what the Pakatan Rakyat has done, in Malay political culture, tantamounts to betrayal which cannot be forgiven," he said.
The former dean of Universiti Malaya's Arts and Social Science Faculty, also felt that those involved should be punished.
"We must demand that those who disobey the ruler's command, go against the state legislative assembly rules and belittle the ruler should be punished.
"Perhaps this is not stated in the Constitution, but by norm and convention, such people should be barred from the state assembly sitting for a certain period," he said.
Meanwhile, a senior law lecturer at the International Islamic University of Malaysia opined that the Sultan of Perak should use his reserved power to resolve the crisis in the state.
"We are now in a position where the Constitution is silent and offers us nothing to deal with the crisis. Hence, in such instance, the Sultan needs to use his reserved power.
"It's true this (power) is not written in the Constitution, but in dealing with crises such as this, the Sultan has the power," said Prof Dr Abdul Aziz Bari.
He explained that there were two ways for the Sultan to act, one of which was to dissolve the state assembly even without the advice of the Menteri Besar.
"Another way is for the Sultan to reverse the appointment of Mohammad Nizar as Menteri Besar and then dissolve the state assembly," he said.Abdul Aziz said the crisis would continue as long as Mohammad Nizar refused to vacate his post which would raise questions on the legality of the new state government.-- BERNAMA

Bile pegi melawat kawasan2 di Perak and bile ade majlis di kawasan itu, beliau lah yg akan membacakan doa, beliau lah yg akan meng imamkan solat jemaah & sebagainya yg menampakkan keperibadian beliau yg bagus. Tapi bile dah jadi mcm ni, lompat melompat mcm katak (Karpal Singh yg ckp) who would expect that apa yg terjadi di Perak skrg ni boleh berlaku. A new political chapter in Malaysia. Tapi yg x bestnyer bile Sultan Perak dah bertitah yg baginda x nak bubarkan DUN, siapalah Nizar utk 'derhaka' (Dia ckp mcm tuh) kepada sultan & mengenepikan titah tuanku?
Xkan le Tuanku Sultan Perak x pk kot? Ape background Tuanku Sultan Perak? Ape background Tuanku Raja Nazrin? X kan nak kelentong pasal undang undang dgn baginda kot? dah la tu, Sultan plak tu. Bukan Pak Lah.
If Pak LAh, saman ler berbilion pon, wa x kesah beb!.
Even Pak Lah pon x melawan bile Tuanku Mizan & Al-marhum Sultan Perlis reject calon menteri besar dia, x kan ler PR nak melawan Kesultanan Melayu kot. If betul ler mcm Karpal ckp yg PR nak saman Tuanku Sultan Perak, confirm rakyat akan bersuara & reject PR. CONFIRM! Tp Anwar bukanlah sebodoh itu, cecepat die isytihar yg PR x kan saman Baginda Sultan Perak.
Mungkin Dato Nizar dipengaruhi oleh sekutu2nye didalam PR. Itu yg dia sanggup 'derhaka' kepada sultan kot. x tahu lah...
Then demonstrasi selepas solat jumaat menyanggah Baginda Sultan Perak. Adoyai.. malu la beb. Kompem la CNN, AFP, Reuters etc. ade mase korang pegi berdemonstrasi tuh. (If xder laporan dlm these news agency u should know now who the man behind them.) Siap baring depan kereta Raja Nazrin masa baginda nak masuk kawasan Istana. Salah ape Raja Nazrin buat?
But this I know.. membesar di Johor Darul Takzim & tahulah sikit2 ttg Sultan Johor & keluarga baginda membuatkan diri merasa bangga & teruja yg kite ni hidup di Malaysia yang emngamalkan Raja berpelembagaan. Since mase kat skolah pon ader belajar asal usul Malaysia & kesultanan Melayu, rasa takjub bile melihat dgn mata kepala sendiri adat istiadat yg dulu hanya di baca dlm buku dpt dilihat dgn mata kepala sendiri.
If bkn kepada Baginda Sultan & Agung, kepada siapa lagi kite nak menjunjung titah? Perdana Menteri? Presiden? x nak ler beb!
X salah if Baginda Sultan Perak berkenan nak bubarkan DUN then buat pilihanraya. Baru demokrasi. Tp baginda sultan memilih utk tidak, jd cuba fahami mengapa baginda buat sedemikian.
