January 09 Auto sales trend

Since gue dah start tulis a few post regarding Auto industry...might as well gue teruskan jer..


Top ten models Registeres in Jan'09:

1. Myvi - 7,049 units.
2. Saga - 5,054 units.
3. Viva - 4,373 units.
4. Persona - 3,271 units.
5. City - 1,737 units.
6. Vios - 1,692 units.
7. Avanza - 924 units.
8. Hilux - 849 units.
9. Accord - 804 units.
10. Livina - 762 units.

Top 10 brand in Jan'09:

1. Perodua - 11,876 units.
2. Proton - 9,874 units.
3. Toyota - 4,790 units.
4. Honda - 3,815 units.
5. Nissan - 1,806 units.
6. Naza - 750 units.
7. Mitsubishi - 504 units.
8. KIA - 381 units.
9. Suzuki - 360 units.
10. Inokom - 328 units.

Nmpknye for the 1st time in a year, Proton model, Saga has overtake Viva. While City has overtake Vios sales for the first time ever. With the introduction of the new City earlier this year, Honda expecting sales to rose up and capturing 7% of the market share in Mesia.

Since Proton will be launching its new MPV, Exora in April... I've make another chart for MPV:

Overall registered in January 09 is 36,174 units (excludes Commercial Vehicles i.e lorries, buses and panel vans) which is 17.5% lower than January 08 and 5.1% decline compare to December 08.

Yesterday, MAA has publish that Feb '09 sales is 33,281 units which is 6% lower than Feb '08 and 3% lower than Jan 09. Gue will update once dpt the details. Well from the trend, it looks that Auto industry are effected by the global economic meltdown eventho, the sales of Commercial vehicle rose 9% compare to last year Feb 08.
